There is a train station near where the kids live, and it has some of the best steam trains! Phoebe can’t help but wonder where her dad went, even though it’s a good thing to do. E. Nesbit’s classic book, The Railway Children, was the inspiration for this heartwarming story about family secrets and train adventures. It should be on every bookshelf.
Kay’s Marvellous Medicine by Adam Kay & Henry Paker (2021)
We learned a lot about how the human body works in Kay’s Anatomy. It was then that doctors didn’t know as much about how our bodies worked as they do now. Adam Kay, a former doctor, is now taking us back to that time. Did you know that it used to be against the law for medical students to cut up anyone? And did you know that doctors used to do surgery without any anesthetic? You should be able to eat a lot.

There are rules at the Little Tulip Orphanage in Amsterdam that must never be broken. A powerful book about the power of friendship and what it means to be a family.
