The Phoenix Suns defeated the Houston Rockets 124-109 on Sunday night thanks in large part to another outstanding scoring performance by Devin Booker, who scored 30 points on his 26th birthday.
After being selected in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft at the age of 19, the two-time All-Star is already in his eighth NBA season and is entering what many would consider the height of his professional career.
I simply strive to continually get better and better, "added Booker. "Basketball has a drawback in that you can never master it. But I'll do everything in my power to make it happen.
Although Booker may not feel like he is in his prime, the statistics show that he is among the league's best players. Through six games, he has averaged more than 29 points while shooting 52% from the field.
On Sunday, he made 14 of 24 field goal attempts while scoring from all over the court. Whether Booker has peaked or not, according to Suns coach Monty Williams, is unknown, but he has certainly loved seeing him develop.
Because guys like Book do it so frequently, Williams said, "you kind of take it for granted." "He's only 26 so it's difficult to say. There are definitely levels where guys can improve.
